The Oratorio Choir in Helsinki

The Oratorio Choir in Helsinki offers an ambitious and dynamic programme twice a year. With a long tradition of large choral and orchestral works the choir aims to highlight classic major works as well as show-casing works by young, international composers. To this end the choir strives to attract experienced singers as well as the interest of professional musicians and established soloists to join them in facing inspiring and fresh musical challenges.

Founded in 1920 the Oratorio Choir the choir has been a significant player in the Swedish speaking choral life in Helsinki. The choir has set its sights on well-planned centenary celebrations, with concentrated productions requiring intensive work within a limited time frame.  Performances are organised to complement the rich musical offerings within the Helsinki region. Since autumn 2018 Håkan Wikman has been the musical director and conductor of the choir.
